The Philosopher / Holy Man
What does it mean to be a holy figure now?
The Philosopher / Holy Man is a comment on the place of religious and philosophical thought in a society that has largely moved off its old certainties. A shift I read, in many ways, as a relief.
The figure wears the timeless drapery and the posture of an ancient philosopher or saint. He stands in a contemporary frame. The question between the two is whether there is still room for the sacred — and for genuinely independent thought.
I think the answer is yes. Not in the old container. Inside whatever each of us is honestly building now.
A bridge between two worlds that look opposed and may be closer than we think.
