Addiction and Loss
I made Addiction and Loss in a dark period. I was working through things I could not look away from.
The piece is a mask. Because that is what addiction does. It hollows a person into one.
The face is twisted. The texture is decayed wood. The mouth is obstructed, because addiction silences. It takes the ability to reason. To connect. To cry out. Inside, the mask is empty. That is the metaphor. The void it leaves where a person used to be.
This piece does not redeem any of that. It records the cost. Identity eroded. Humanity stripped. A war fought inside the soul that does not end in victory. It ends in absence.
